Doxford Barns Wedding | Olivia and James

Olivia and James were married on a colder than average early April day at the beautiful Doxford Barns in Northumberland and I was very honoured to be their Photographer. All my couples are special but sometimes I especially feel like I have come together with my couples for this moment in their story for a reason. I’m there to capture their day of course but often couples bring me such joy with their warm open hearts and beautiful families who welcome me in on the most special day. This was definitely the case with Olivia and James and their loved ones.
A Little Note About Choosing A Photographer
I definitely think It’s important to go with your gut instinct when booking a wedding photographer. You have to love their photos of course but you also have to like them as a person, be happy to have them at your wedding and most of all trust them. Trust them to show up and shoot your wedding like they would their daughters, or best friends and trust them to care about you and your story. If you have all that then as a result you will have beautiful, emotive, timeless wedding photos to treasure forever.
A little about me
I’m the photographer who gets emotional behind the camera regularly. The moment where Olivia’s dad gave her away which is shown in the images below was very emotional and I definitely shed a tear or two. I might share a blog post about my own wedding day story one of these days but safe to say Father of the bride stuff always gets me.
Olivia and James
Olivia is from Germany and met James at Durham University. They now live further south but knew they wanted to come back to the North East to get married. Another postponed covid wedding that was most definitely worth the wait.
The Venue
I was delighted to finally get to shoot at the beautiful Doxford Barns. A venue very local to me that has evaded me thus far. I am excited to shoot more at Doxford with bookings later this year and next. I love it’s rustic laid back vibe and with all the surrounding countryside it’s just perfect for photos. It’s also not far from the beach so if it was a summer wedding a short drive to the beach for some couple shots could also be an option.
Thank you for having me Olivia and James your day was beautiful and has my heart.
