Family Beach Session | Embleton Bay, Northumberland

Family Photographer Northumberland

It has been busy busy here at Fiona Saxton Photography recently so I have gotten a little behind with my blog but I am very excited to blog this beautiful session:).  Paul contacted me from California explaining that he was looking to book an extended family photo session with me as a gift for his mums 70th birthday.  Paul and his family were coming over from America and wanted me to capture the rare occurrence of his whole family being together.  Paul and I discussed where the session would take place and decided on the beautiful Embleton bay as it is local to his mum and somewhere she loves.  Embleton Bay is a gloriously wide sandy beach that seems to stretch for miles.  The majestic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle provide the dramatic backdrop to this beautiful bay.  Since moving to Northumberland last year I have been wowed by the beautiful beaches here and Embleton Bay is certainly no exception.  On a warm day sitting on this beach or one of the others along this stretch of coastline you really could be anywhere in the world.  I certainly have fallen in love with Northumberland’s beaches and they are my favourite place to photograph families.

On the session day, we had Paul, his lovely wife and beautiful baby son, Paul’s brother James with his wife and two kids and of course Pauls mum and dad.  From the moment I met them on a beautiful early June evening Paul’s family were so lovely and welcoming and we all enjoyed a fun and relaxed evening at the beach.

Whenever I photograph families on the beach at golden hour it always makes me think how I should take my own kids to the beach more often at that time of day.  There is nothing better than the sun low In the sky, a beach bbq on the go and the kids running wild and free:).

Paul’s final gallery included some group shots of the family all together and some of each individual family.  As a family photographer my aim is always to capture real moments and the genuine love and connection of families… With that in mind here are some of my personal favourites.
